About meI am a librarian who, not surprisingly, loves to collect books. I read everything I can get my hands on, and love getting recommendations from other readers. If we have similar tastes, and you've read something fantastic, please let me know!

About my libraryMost of my books have been cataloged at this point, although I still have several boxes in storage. My library is, I think, eclectic and very representative of me as a person. I'm a pack rat when it comes to books, so most of what I buy I keep, unless I really hated it. Luckily for me, I enjoy almost everything. I work in a book store, so I end up buying lots of books every month. Much of my library has come from library sales, however. Who doesn't love $1 a box day?

In a field I am the absence of field. That is always the case.
Wherever I am, I am what is missing. When I walk I part the air and
always the air moves in to fill the space where my body has been.
We all have reasons for moving. I move to keep things whole.

Hey Meagan!

You HAVE to read The Girls by Lori Lansens! It is fabulous!!
Did you ever get around to reading The Heaven of Mercury? :-)
Thanks for the list Meagan! Peony In Love was one of my favorite books last year!! I will check into all of your suggestions! Let me know if you think of any others!

That would be great. Thank you! Did you say that you do not have Holy Smokes?
I just finished Stargirl and see that you have Love, Stargirl and was wondering if I could borrow it?
Thanks for your help with adding books to my library!
Hi, Meagan, yes, Jolene got me started, even though I don't have nearly the collection either of you do (I'm content to borrow her books most of the time). Thanks for the welcome! ~Jennifer
No need to be embarrassed. Typos happen. When you finish 'Mercury' I'd love to hear your thoughts. In fact, I'd be interested to hear what you think of the writing in it even if you've not finished it.

Have you read Brad Watson's 'The Heaven of Mercury'? I loved it.

You are a little sure of yourself. I am going to give you a run for your money! :-)
You should totally add Bone Doll's Twin to your reading list...it was a fab start to a series...I am eagerly awaiting to buy the new one. Cheers!!
Good luck keeping an eye on me. I'm a sneaky one. Anyway, you're a fine one to talk about literary expansion! :-)
You know honestly I can't remember if I was able to get through the book or not...it might have been an attempt by my mom to help me get over my fear. I want to say she might have tried to read it to me.
It is such a vague memory, thanx so much for the info though. I will check it out.
You rock...that book was called Shark in the Window..I am going to look for it on my end too.
Well, don't we think highly of ourselves! :-)
Hello, my favorite bookaholic! You are still climbing the charts, I see.
Incidentally, due to the increasingly alarming number of books in your possession, you may wish to simply dispense with the idea of traditional furniture and create your own "book" bed, "book" couch," "book".....well, you see where this is going. It could spark a whole new interior design show.
I finished book 3 and am on to book 4! I may have a problem, but I don't plan to seek help. I would rather wallow in another good book. Talk to you soon!
Hmmmmm......I think you are a tad defensive. Any particular reason? :-)
Hey! You added more books.....again!
I am actually still in the second one, but I should be there before you know it! :-)
I am going on a road trip and will be reading a lot of books...if I come across any that I think you need to read I will let you know. BTW Green Rider is good, I am on the second book right now ;)
Okay, so you are obviously not going to take any responsibility for your unrelenting aquisition of books. I guess I can't guilt you into letting me catch up with you, so I will simply have to buy a small library(as in an actual building with books already in it) of my own in order to even compete. The gauntlet is thrown down, my friend! :-)
By the way, every time I look at your library, you have added more books! How am I ever supposed to catch up?!
I am actually glad that you are not going to be out and about, when it is supposed to be getting worse later this evening, even though I fully understand the frustration of having to make a decision without all of the information. Of course, my seeming reluctance to start a My Space page is not to be taken as evidence of my waning regard for such a friend as your good self. It is merely the feeble protest of one who does not throw herself recklessly into any new experience, positive as its outcome may be. You should, by now, know this about me, so it should not come as a great shock. Nonetheless, I shall endeavor to resign myself to my ever approaching fate. I believe I picked up some of my overly dramatic prose from "The Mysteries of Udolpho."

On another note, I really hope you do read "Twilight" because I think you will adore it! Let me know when and if you start it and what you think. It is hard to put down, but it also felt like a fairly fast read and I predict you will want to dive right in to the sequel.
I have not yet read the two you mentioned, but I have them on my list, as well. I think that the weather is going to be a bit of a problem, so I hope you are able to ascertain how bad it will be, before you take off. It looks like you are pretty determined on the My Space front, so I will probably be bullied in the end....sigh.
Ahhh, "The Mysteries of Udolpho" (aka "The Case of the Frequetly Fainting and Terminally Overwrought Heroine.") That being said, I did actually enjoy reading it, but it was not nearly as horrifically gothic as I expected and much of it, especially the first 200 or so pages, is a travelogue of sorts as the heroine makes her way through France and, later, into Italy. I found the 'villain' more baffling than ominous and the 'hero' more sappy than dashing; quite frankly, the 'heroine' is not truly compelling, either, yet I was motivated to stay with the story, so it must have all worked together, somehow. I do, however, see why Jane Austen saw fit to do a parody and I am glad I have read it. Does that answer your question?

I do have to say that I highly recommend "The Observations." I am planning to finish it tonight and, while it was a very intriquing and compelling read from the beginning, this last part is really getting intense. I think you would really enjoy it! Talk to you soon!
I just wanted to let you know that I have started posting my current reading material as you are doing, in case you are curious. You suggested this some time ago, so I finally got the hint! Have a lovely week!
I was just noticing the books that we share, we share some pretty awesome books!!!
I could go even further with the tags. I find myself adding new ones every time I go into my library! It's just so much fun seeing how many fit each category. I know, I'm a nerd!
Hey I wanted to tell you that you should so read Kushiels Scion, it is awesome and the new one comes out in June.
Since you are on Spring Break and all :)
I am definately going to have to become a member. I have tons of books yet to add. But your library is quite impressive...wow.
Thanx for letting me know about this site :)
Hey lady, it meg, leave it to heather to get me started on this, I think it could be addictive. Hope you are well. Nice collection by the way. M
Hi there! I noticed you'd joined the DU MLIS group - feel free to stop by and introduce yourself!
Back in October you recommended The Thirteenth Tale to me and I wanted to get back to you to tell you that I listened to it on audio which is absolutely wonderful. A very gothic tale, don't you think? Have you read Water for Elephants? I read it before it was published and was struck that it reminded me of Shadow of the Wind, not in story, of course; but in the fact that it had all of the same elements mixed together. Adventure, drama, romance. While it won't win any literary awards, it is fun read.

And if it's the inclusion of books and storytelling into the novels (Thirteenth, Shadow)that you like, then you might like John Connolly's new novel, Book of Lost Things. It's a fairy tale in the vein of Grimm's but the world is created from all the fairy and folk tales the young boy has read or has been read to. It's about having to grow up and deal with things; I cried at the end! We had a copy of Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales at home which I devoured while growing up; so I loved the feeling I was reading another...

Thanks for putting what you're reading on your profile page. I started doing that also. One can check "recently added books" but that's not the same as what one is reading. Best, Lois
Meagan,

Thanks for your comment and thanks for the suggestion. It sounds interesting and I'll check it out. I have not yet read the books under my Information Science tag, but I'd still recommend that you check them out because they seem interesting. By the way, what do you think about Web 2.0? Are you studying it in your classes? Don't you think it will be the wave of the future for 21st Century librarians? For librarians, I have also seen references of Library 2.0 or Librarian 2.0. You can Google these terms if you haven't heard of them. Thanks again!
Hi Meagan!

We share an eclectic mix of books! Love the picture also! I noticed you have a "Vampire" tag; that, and judging by what we have in common, you might like Octavia Butler's latest Fledgling. She does a different take with the vampire thing while probing topics like race and family.

I work in a bookstore also at least for a few more months. Yes, lots of ARCs, lots of freebies, not-to-mention what we buy AND yes, library sales! I actually go to area library sales to buy for the used section of the store...I swear I bring five or six books home for the personal library everytime. It also allows me to pick up a hardcover of some ARC I may have read, loved, and returned to the store.
