About meMiddle aged, middle class living in the middle of a county town in middle England.

About my libraryIncludes history (from my degree), management and self-development (from my career), cookery/gardening/craft ( creative!) children's (favourites from my childhood and from what I read to my children when they were growing up), literature and poetry, reference, and then assorted stuff that I've just accumulated over the years. Needs a good clearout, really.

Hi Lizwil:

Your collection is wide-ranging without being dilettantish. (Iʻm something of a dilettante myself and hence on guard against dilettantism).

To me, it was a good mix of authors that have always attracted me in one way or another*, and some that are new to me.

*examples are Plautus, Moliere, and Dalby.
Hi, How are you doing so?
Hi, I just joined this site. I noticed that you're a Da Vinci Code fan. Have you read Synarchy? Here's a link: www.synarchynovel.com/
You are right! Those assumptions were wrong. Which is quite a relief since I now can feel less guilty about the unread books on my bookshelves. Funny that your son has an interest about the Middle East too. Currently I am working on my master's thesis on the role of ideas and identity in the Middle East. It's a small world after all!
I saw you read Pennings' Doing research in Political Science. I really found it a horrible book to read and was wondering why someone like you(historian/manager right?) purchased it. Just curious!
I'd really like to hear what you think of the entire book when you're finished reading it. I got a little bored halfway through and never picked it back up, so I have this niggling thought that, in the end, everything became profound and meaningful and maybe I missed it. cheers.
