About meI have returned to my roots at my favorite bookstore, Village Books in Bellingham, WA, where I am now bookselling part time and online marketing part time.
About my libraryI love fiction. It takes a pretty great nonfiction book for me to get through it, and they are out there, but mostly I just want a good story to take me out of reality for a bit.

You may recall that my daughter is from China. Craig sent me manuscript pages of Lucky Girl to get some early thoughts. I loved it! The story is really fascinating and it is wonderful that she is journalist, because she tells the story so well.
Anyway, I sent Craig my review and decided to post it here already (minus the bookseller talk) in hopes to get some buzz about it. It was hard to sum up in a few sentences, but here you go:
"As the mother of a child adopted from China, I found Mei-Ling Hopgood's Lucky Girl an enlightening look at some of the things my daughter may face as she grows older. But even more than that, as human being, I found Hopgood's honest questions about family and the world we live in very refreshing. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always thoughtful, I cannot wait to share this wonderful memoir with friends and our customers."
