About meI'm a photo-based artist with a day job in a library.
About my libraryMy library work gives me generous access to a large research library. What books I have in my collection are primarily those I'd like to be surrounded with to browse when the mood strikes. The collection is heavy in emphasis on photography of the West, and heavy in works on photographers active in the 1970s to 1990s, years when conceptual and performative tendencies were seeping into the photography world. The areas where Western landscape photography and performative attitudes intersect--as in the works of John Divola and John Pfahl (the Altered Landscapes)--are particularly interesting to me.
I also have interests in the 19th century expeditionary photographers, particularly of the American West. Also, I have a passion for the modernist works of Edward Weston and Harry Callahan, and collect works on them to a certain depth.
Beyond the above, I also enjoy gardening, and have a few random plant and garden books mixed in. And I also love the wilder outdoors and have some related books and guides. And then there's the usual weird stuff...
