About meI love books! I love reading! I can't remember a time when I wasn't reading. I remember getting in trouble with my third grade teacher because I was reading a book while she taught another subject entirely. My explanation to her? I took the liberty of reading, learning and doing the work for the next weeks' lesson plan so that I can have the time to read my books. Since I already knew what she was teaching, I can read my book. It seemed simple enough to me however she didn't like that. So I continued to do it throughout my school years, but I was careful not to be found out. My best friends where the stories that I read, my best company was a great book.
I can't get used to ebooks. I guess I'm old fashioned in that sense. I need to turn pages and curl up in a chair or lay down with a book light. I haven't been able to simply put a book away and finish it later, I HAVE to read until the end.
When my daughter was born, I missed reading. So much, so much. I just didn't have the time to read a book uninterrupted anymore. I realized my daughter needed to love reading as much as I did otherwise we were both going to suffer. So I started her own little library. I read to her every moment I could. She's two now and loves her books. Especially the play and sound ones. She reads to her stuffed animals while I read to myself.
About my libraryMy library of books was always something I was so proud of. Since childhood I've been collecting books. I would go to the library and buy used books for a quarter each. Every week, I'd go and spend my entire allowance at the library. I didn't just want to read the book, I wanted to keep it. I was on my way to five thousand books that I kept catalogued in an Excel document. Pretty simple. But then because of my separation with my very bitter ex, I lost my dearly loved collection. It was like losing a part of me. I cried, I screamed, eventually I came to terms with it. What else can I do? I found a site that sells used and out of print books online. Alibris.com has helped me find some of my old books that are not in print any longer.
So I'm starting my collection again. At this moment my daughter has a better collection than I do. She's on a book club after all.
So my quest for adventure, and romance and knowledge continues. Through books I can satisfy any mood that I'm in. And I thank God for them all.

I see that we have many books in common-- that's what I love about LT, you meet so many new friends that have eerily similiar tastes! :)
I know-- I mean, yes, when I buy a home, I'm sure I'll have a few more requirements for the place, but the one definite, and very important one, is that it has to have a big library, or have the potential for a big one. As it is, I've got my few shelves at my place PILED with books, with more yet to be read and shelved! I definitely need more book space. :D
I hope to talk to you again soon! Feel free to drop a line whenever, whether it's about a certain book or life in general. I'm always happy to talk to a fellow book lover!
Until Then,
Keep reading!
