About me.. lecturer at city university london .. i direct our courses in information science, library science and information management for the cultural sector.. i read too much and write too little .. when i was a child my favorite book was "the weirdstone of brisingamen" by alan garner.. i really would have liked to be a ballet dancer but could see that studying science offered better employment prospects .. i had a desperate crush on captain kirk .. i like rooms with a view
About my library.. i started to record my library and information science books but have continued adding everything else .. i think you either get books or you don't .. i have no objection to e-book readers but they do not seem to offer the context that a book does .. how long, how short, how many chapters, related titles, notes in the margins, memories of what i was doing when i first read the book, books people have bought for me ... i am happy to invest in my books
.. students can use my collection to identify books relevant to modules on IS, LS and IMCS - i have added module codes in the "comments" field - so searching for the module code in the comments field should generate a reading list.. please note that these lists will only be complete for the modules run by the Center for Information Science (INM300 LISF, INM303 IRO, INM341 IMP, INM380 LAPIS and INM307 ID).. for other modules, check with the module leaders
..the code GENERAL denotes books which are useful background reading for the entire course
.. the code DISSERTATION denotes books useful for those undertaking a Masters Dissertation in LS IS or IMCS
.. here are the module codes and the course titles:
