About meI'm a senior Orthopaedic Surgeon with a lifetime interest in books. I'm a compulsive buyer and reader of (mainly) non-fiction books with themes related to:
History (Naval/Maritime, Martial/Warfare, Science/technology, Pre-Renaissance),
PalaeoAnthropology,
Mystical/Philosophical (Metaphysics, Occult, Religions),
Computers,
Graphics and Photography.
I also incidentally have fiction books. I don't fancy them much because I'm very strict about detail. We buy a fiction book to willingly elude ourselves: if the illusion is less than perfect because of the author's lack of research or lack of story-making or story-telling skills the reading becomes a painful waste of time. The same is true about fiction movies (specially Hollywood "historic" dramas)...
The fiction themes are:
Science-fiction,
Sword and sorcery,
Occult and Mystical,
Crime and Mystery.
