About meI have a lifetime interest in books. I'm a compulsive buyer and reader of (mainly) non-fiction books with themes related to:
History (Naval/Maritime, Martial/Warfare, Science/technology, Pre-Renaissance), Astronomy, Games,
Palaeoanthropology, Mystical/Philosophical (Metaphysics, Occult, Religions), Computers, Graphic arts and Photography.
As a rule I don't fancy fiction books (novels) because I'm very strict about detail. We buy a fiction book to willingly be deceived. If the illusion is less than perfect because of the author's lack of research or lack of story-making or story-telling skills reading becomes a painful waste of time. The same is true about motion-pictures specially "historic dramas" which are becoming more action driven, anachronistic and flamboyant each year "thanks" to cheap fancy CGI but at the expense of good story-telling and accuracy.
The fiction themes I seldom read are:
Science-fiction, Sword and sorcery, Occult and Mystical, Crime and Mystery.

About my libraryI'M NOT A BOOKSELLER NOR A LIBRARIAN: ALL THESE BOOKS ARE MINE, WERE BOUGHT FOR PERSONAL USE AND ARE PHYSICALLY SHELVED (OR PILED-UP!) AT HOME.

I Joined LibraryThing in 2009 but only started cataloguing my books in June 2013 while moving them to my new home with a (then) spacious library.
As my library is multilingual I preferably use the English LT site and all my tags are mainly in English.

GroupsAncient and Medieval Manuscripts, Ancient History, Archaeology, History at 30,000 feet: The Big Picture, Japanese Culture, LibraryThing in Portuguese (Portugal), Lingua Latina, Literatura en Espanol, Medieval Europe, Military Historyshow all groups

Favorite listsBest roleplaying books, Bronze age catastrophe, Great Books About Language, Karate Kata books: Traditional Okinawan, Old wooden shipbuilding, Sex in the past, Swordsmanship treaties, references and manuals: old european
