Noticed you liked The Bluest Eye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Curses on you for recommending foundmagazine.com. I spent the better part of my evening yesterday exploring on there. It's awesome!
I have not read Jonathan Carroll, although he is an author I would like to investigate further. Would you say 'The Land of Laughs'is a good way to start?

I really like the word Fabulation but unfortunatly it is not my invention but John Clute's from The Encyclopedia of Fantasy, a wonderful tome that seems to cover everything about the genre including supernatural horror, Magic Realism and cinema. I keep dipping into it and find something new. The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction covers the SF field.

Other writers I would recommend of a very imaginative bent are Michael Moorcock (Gloriana, Mother London and Dancers At The End of Time), Mervyn Peake, Gene Wolfe, Angela Carter and my favourite writer J.G.Ballard. Some of these you have probably read no doubt.
John Crowley's Little Big is also one of my favourite novels. It's such a shame nobody I know has ever heard of it.
