About meI'm a buyer at a bookstore in The Netherlands, so I have access to loads and loads of books. I live in eternal frustration: there will never be enough time to read everything I want to read.Visitor MapCreate your own visitor map!

About my libraryBecause my physical library changes so fast; too many books coming in, occasionally books going out; my LT library consists only of books I have actually read. At first I added titles randomly as I came across them, but since january 2008 I add every book I've finished.
I am now trying to add every book I have ever read, which is quite a project. I am not nearly finished, nor will I ever be finished. I do think my library reflects quite accurately my reading life.

Hi,

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Oh, Flowers for Algernon was beautiful. So well written and such a moving story. I also picked up The Lovely Bones as you referred to it and it sounded like a good book. I'll let you know what I think about it once I get to it. And I'll definitely look into The Time Traveller's Wife. Thanks for all the great recommendations, keep 'em coming! ^^
Checked with my sister, the genealogist of our family - no to Amsterdam. But one family from Dreumel.
Hi!

Just wanted to let you know I finally started one of the books you recommended me: Flowers for Algernon. I only read the first couple of pages, but I'm already hooked. I love the different writing style for the main character. And he's just so adorable! I'm looking forward to really getting into it. I'll let you know what I thought about it once I've finished it.
I just read you comments about Carol Shields on Terri's thread. Just wanted to let you know that I agree with you - she is one of my favorite writers.

By the way I have been a marketing director for a books store in Wisconsin for the last 19 years, so I know what you mean about the books. Better to be swimming in them than not, though, I say!

By the way, my family is from Noord Brabant - great-great-grandparents immigrated here. My sister is researching our family tree. She has been to a number of towns with a Dutch man who studies the Dutch immigration to the Fox Valley of the Wiscosnin. He travels here every summer as well.

Where are you from?

Nancy
Hi – have you weighed in yet on the next book for Group Reads – Literature? The discussion thread is here. And Irish set up a poll for us here (it can be amended if there’s lots of interest in a book that isn’t on there yet). Hope to see you there!

Terri
Hello! I've been out of town on a family health emergency, but I'll check in and see what's going on with 20 Questions. Thanks!
Actually I thought Crime and Punishment was okay once you manage to get round all these Russians, each of whom has at least three different names and, as far as Dostoeyevsky(sp?) is concerned, seem to be living under some kind of rule that says they mustn't use the same name twice in a row. The story itself is not bad at all, though I seem to recall there was a bit about 2/3 of the way through that I skimmed a bit until it got interesting again.. Hope you enjoy it
Thank you for the great recommendations! There were some that I have on my wish list, but also some I've never heard about before. I will definitely have to go to a book store very soon and get some, they sound very interesting!
Hi Marvas,

I think This perfect day is indeed out of print. I had a hard time tracking a copy down (it's even harder to find in the Netherlands!), but now I even have two copies of it! Go figure... ^^

I did enjoy it very much, just as I expected I would. I love dystopias and I love books by Ira Levin, so this was a definite must read for me. As this is one of your all time favorites, are there any other books you would recommend?

Vonini
Hey Marvas - did you know you won Guess the Book? We are waiting for the next clue!!
