I'm enjoying the Simon Scarrow books alot. I've read the first four books now and they're great. Janny Wurts recommended Lindsey Davis 'The Silver Pigs' to me and is brilliant. Very easy to read - i think it took me 3 days(normally it'd take me a week to 2 weeks). Falco, the main character, is a private detective in ancient rome.
Did you read Chris Bunch? he had a trilogy out called the Seer King Trilogy. Really enjoyed that - great fantasy. Maggie Furey has a four book series called the Artefacts of Power as well.
Let me know if any of those help.

Willie
Have you ever tried Orcs by Stan Nicholls? Its an omnibus edition with three books in it. Fans of David Gemmell will love it.

I remember my mate telling me, DG had been approached by Movie Companies & was offered alot of cash for the rights to use his books for movies. DG turned them down because apparently he would lose all artistic control and licence for the characters he created, can you imagine a beardless Druss in Legend? His daughter was bugging him to do it but he flatly refused and told her she could give the licence after he had passed away - so who knows.
Haha I'm an absolute fan of Gemmell. His passing has left a major void in the fantasy genre. Incomparable writing, his stories have become exclusive fantasy reading. I cannot read other fantasy authors without measuring them to Gemmell and I often find alot fall short.
hi i also like David and Leigh Eddings we share 3 books in common which is cool. hope to chat somtime i also enjoy fantacy fests i can lose myself in. My husband often complains when im into a new trilogy that he gets less food(good for his diet i say)
Hi,

Apologies in the delay to your comment. It has been a long time since I read the The complete chronicles of the Jerusalem Man which is how I was introduced to the Jon Shannow character.

I recall that I enjoyed it very much. Jon Shannow is the typical hero of a David Gemmell book. It's for those types of heroes that I like his books so much.

If you like heroes such as Waylander and Druss I think you'll enjoy the Jon Shannow stories.
