About my libraryOur collection consists primarily of books that speak to the lives and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or questioning people and their allies. Our goal, once the cataloguing is complete and the library room is ready, is to operate a lending library for the community.

We accept donations of books on diverse topics such as spirituality & religion, health, human rights, marriage and family, history & culture, biography, etc. as they relate to the lives of GLBT people. We also accept donations of fiction in which the main characters are GLBT. We will eventually include a wish list in our catalog to identify those books that we would like to carry but do not yet have.

Hi Julio,

Sorry I didn't see your message until just now. Don't worry about the last title. Go ahead and send the books to:

Dan Iddings
Gay and Lesbian Community Center
210 Grant Street
Pittsburgh, PA 19217

Let me know what the cost is and where to send a check to cover the shipping.

Thanks.

Dan
Hi,

It's great to hear from you. I meant to email earlier and say that I deleted some books from the list. As I've been going through our own boxes of donations I've found that we already have some of the things I asked you for originally. I'll reimburse you for shipping anything but if you can please re-check the list I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Dan
Congratulations to all of the nominees for ALA's Rainbow Project: http://rainbowlist.wordpress.com/categor...

I'm honored that Tillmon County Fire is included. Best wishes to all the nominees!

No problem. Whenever you get time works for me.
I'm back in Pittsburgh for the next couple of weeks. Let me know if you get a chance to work on the "shipping list".

Had a great time in Paris. I bought lots of books for the GLCC and my personal library.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Dan
I made some edits to the shipping list tonight. There are now 25 titles on the list.

Dan
Thanks, Julio.

There's no rush. In fact I'm going to be out of town the last 2 weeks in October so not much will happen on my end till early November.

Happy sorting.

Dan

PS

I've added the tag(s) dup or DUP to lots of our extra copies. If you see anything you want create a GLCC collection in your library and I'll start pulling stuff out on my end.
I found 31 titles on your list of discards that I'd like to add to the GLCC library. Let me make sure they aren't duplicates (I don't have everything on LT yet). Soon as I do that I'll let you know what we'd like to have. I'm happy to pay you for the shipping costs. 30 books should be less then $20.

If you want to see what I've selected so far I created a "collection" in the GLCC Library called mcc.library.
I noticed that you have several GLBT related titles on your pending disposal list. Some of these books are not held in many libraries. Would you consider donating them to the GLCC library in Pittsburgh? We are particularly interested in adding items that would be new for us and not held by many other libraries. I'm finding that about 10% of the books in our collection are held by fewer than 25 libraries on OCLC and fewer than 15 libraries on LibraryThing. If it would help you I can go through your list and identify the titles we are interested in.

Hope to hear from you.

Dan
I just created a new LT group for GLBT Libraries. I hope it becomes the new group for GLBT Librarians who LT. http://www.librarything.com/groups/glbtl... Please consider joining this group.
Hey pleasure to meet you. Looking forward to learning more about your book interests.
