About me Um, I suppose I'm going to have to put something here . . . eventually . . .

I made a pledge to myself last year to read 30 books. I figured that was a nice, safe, not too round number to use, equating to about 2 and a half books a month. I fell rather short of that goal. I think I maybe got 17ish books in. Man, is that sad or what? I'm slacking.

So I'm revisiting that goal AGAIN this year. Wish me luck!

I'm also interested in the 1001 Books list. According to the handy dandy Excell sheet, I will need to read 18 books a year to finish it. I somehow don't think that's going to happen, but it would be a nice goal to achieve.

About my library If it's got words, I'll read it. As such, you'll find some wacky selections in my library--once I get them all uploaded, that is.

Where there is a will there is a way. You can read the 30 or so books this year. You can!!

=D
Your review of Lolita is spot on. I have a hard time explaining how I can simultaneously believe Humbert to be a victimizing pedophile and find this an amazing piece of literature.* But you seem to get it!

*Difficulty exacerbated by very few people having actually read this book.
Just remember what Less Brown said "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."

So shoot for 30...even if you only read 1/2 that amount then you did something. After all its better to try and fail then to never try at all. You'll never get anywhere if you don't try.
How goes your reading 30 books this year plan? You should join the 50 Book Challenge group....it could help you track your promise. And just 'cuz the title says 50 doesn't mean you need that many...its just a suggestion. Some crazy folks pledged to try to do 100 or more!! I went safe with 50, but not sure if I'll make that. I started in Feb and only hit 24 so far.
Books, cats and Sacramento :) At least 3 things we have in common...but HOW important they are! At least to me :)
Why, yes, it is. :-D
Then I suppose Duct Shui isn't a good book for you, either. ;-)
You don't have The WD-40 Book?
For SHAME.
So do you have a name for the group yet?
Don't listen to Izzy....you need to add more books!
You're not allowed to add any more books until we have a club.
support and help are too different things. we are all beyond help when it comes to our addiction...but we can all support each other when we fall off the wagon...or need a book idea (or two or three). share ideas on how to avoid the bookstore....or to stay focused when we are inside one so that we don't buy everything in site.
The BAA wouldnt be about correcting our problem...Izzy and I determined long ago that there is no cure. But perhaps the BAA could help us learn a little control in our book buying....or when we fail at that....lend a sympathic ear when we confess that we again bought more books for our TBR piles that we can ever possibly read.
Hey Girl,

When are you gonna add more books??
I still like Book Addicts Anonymous (BAA for short) - the group for people who need help with their book addiction. Which fits us all quiet nicely...and would make Izzy the obvious leader. =)
Ummm...how has this job been left to us, again? lol.

Yes, er, title...perhaps the "really snappy and extrememly witty group"?

Yeah, I'll keep thinking...
So, um, have you come up with a title?
We must pull inspiration from the world around us....and then pull out some really snappy and extrememly witty name that will draw attention and admiraation long after we're gone!
Ha...yeah, because I'm so talented in the area of creative titles. :p
The name has to be something cool....something that will live long after the Gilmore Girls.

We could always use your icon or Isabel's for inspiration and call it "Reading is for Awesome People" or "Book Addicts Anonymous".

Hmmm....let me think on this one a little.
Did someone say....book group??
I knew the moment I saw this site that you would love it...=D
I like the idea of having our own book group again.

Looks easy enough. Let me know once you've started it.
Hahaha...I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away. :D
