About meMiami Dade College Kendall Campus Library

About my libraryEach year, the American Library Association records hundreds of attempts by individuals and groups to have books removed from library shelves and classrooms.

This LibraryThing catalog (click here to view) contains some of the books that have been challenged and/or banned during the 20th century and through 2008. All of the books listed here are in the Kendall Campus Library's circulating collection.

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read is observed during the last week of September each year. Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular, and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them.

For more information on Banned Books Week, visit the American Library Association (ALA) web site at http://www.ala.org.

I love Always Running, it's a great book. And the author Luis J. Rodriguez is a great guy. -- Jeff Rivera (Author of FOREVER MY LADY) http://www.JeffRivera.com
