Ah, the dissertation. I'm drawing on feminist rhetorical theory and analysis to explore relationships among literacy ideology, institutions, gender, and professionalization as they influence textual production in librarians' writings about Americanization work during the early 20th Century. Obviously, issues of race and ethnicity abound, as well. My proposal defense will happen very soon - I just need to organize and arrange for my committee members to all meet at the same time. I suspect this will be as difficult as herding cats.
I came across your blog and found my way here - I'm a comp-rhet dissertator, too. What is your area of specialization?
