If you haven't read Potocki's "Manuscript Found at Saragossa", I highly recommend you do so.
I smiled today as I saw an edition of Maturin's "Melmoth" in a bookstore. I recalled my long, pre-internet search to find this book so many years ago, and how it fell into my lap one day for an absurdly low price. *sigh* The joys of the book hunt.

Goes without saying that the book was worth the wait. I'm only sorry that you can only "discover" a book. I put the new edition back on the shelf to wait for the right person to pick it up.

Couldn't help dropping you a note when I saw your moniker...
I hope the trees do forgive us for loving books. I could be fey and say that's why they sigh - but that's a bit camp even for me.
Things are more like they used to be than they are now...
