Oh my goodness, YES! I've been telling about it to whomever would listen for the past two years. It's true I hardly left the centre, but there at least, it seemed there was at least one bookshop per bloc! It is particularly startling coming from North America, where brick-and-mortar bookstores are dying like flies.
I am seriously contemplating moving to South America (or back to Europe), mostly seeking that vivacious and rich city life. And the cafes! And those fantastic enormous trees!
Well, I envy you your long-term experience, I only had a measly two weeks over Christmas--I did come back with almost 150 books... even left some clothes behind to accommodate print!
Bom dia, até à próxima!
