Mr. Isaacs,

Mr. (Jeff) Taylor and I happen to know for a fact that you are holding out on us. In your self-styled "cramped little NYC apartment collection," you do not admit your proud ownership of arguably the greatest single volume of collected poems in the Western canon. We'll give you some hints: it's big, it's red, and it's really really gay. Do you have anything to say for yourself?

Since matter religious interest you, I am cordially (just kidding) inviting you to join the [Mahābhārata] Anyone? reading group that I have just started on LT. Excuses about getting married won't get you off the hook. Additionally, if you happen to know any experts in the field, we're desperately in need of a few.

I've only known one other person whom I would truly call sardonic, so you're in rare company. Life in the mountains goes well. Robbie and I have worked outside like two gardening fools. Having decided that the world is indeed as foolish as Voltaire thought, I am tending to my garden. It has become a serious (and full-time) occupation. Robbie and I plan to be ready when the stock market crashes and the dollar means nothing (the true Republican version of Apocalypse). So have you had a chance to check out all the delights of New York? If you haven't been to the Cloisters Museum yet, you need to go. It's on the edge (one of the edges of Central Park). There are wonderful spaces to meditate there.
Ich bin ziemlich fein. Danke (I think. I just learned to read the language, not write or converse in it). As to your taste in reading being better than mine--check out the overlap of my library with your buddy Walker Percy.

I can't believe we don't share any books in common. What undergraduate school did you attend?

Jike:

We're also the only ones on LT who acknowledge ownership of a certain volume titled Waiting for a Name. And if these credentials alone are not enough to get us invited to give the Gifford Lectures next year, I don't know what would.
