About meI'm a student studying linguistics with a focus on Formal Syntax & Greek, an admitted nerd, and bibliophile. I've also worked as a librarian and a climbing instructor. I climb about a 5.10 - well maybe more like somewhere between a 5.9c and a 5.10a.

About my libraryI have a slowly growing library of about 2,000 titles ranging from the very esoteric linguistics and technical Biblical studies to the classics of literature and Children's books. I love it all.

In the latter realm of reading, I love Annie Dillard, Graham Greene, Charles Dickens, Flannery O'Connor, and many others...Shakespeare is good and so is C. S. Lewis. T. S. Eliot is probably my favorite poet, though Robert Frost is pretty close on that one too. I also have a good number of theater anthologies and play scripts, including but not limited to those of Ben Johnson, Oscar Wilde, William Congreve, Henrik Ibsen, and George Bernard Shaw. My favorite plays are probably Charley's Aunt, The Cocktail Party, and Waiting for Godot - yes, that's a strange combo.

In the formal realm, I'm most interested in the Hellenistic Greek language of the New Testament, Josephus, Philo, Epictetus, & the LXX - particularly the application of Formal Syntactic Theory (both Lexical-Functional Grammar & Role and Reference Grammar) to the study of the language. Subjects such as Grammatical Voice, Semantic Roles are fascinating to me.
