Mike E, I am resisting the urge to shake you and slap you around a little about Trollope vs Dickens. (Was this sort of the reaction you were after perhaps?) I like Trollope; I really do. It's just that Dickens is such a writer! It's impossible to find a page where there isn't some remarkable sentence or paragraph. On the other hand, Trollope is a really, really good story-teller.
(Meanwhile, for people who are discussing 19th century Brits, we have 10 strange books in common.) (Ah. I see that you have your Proust anthologized. That's another few in common.)

Your comment on Loving Frank being a historical novel made me laugh. I was the one who felt so ripped off when wikipedia gave away the ending. I guess that's the risk I take when reading about real people - somebody always knows how it ends. This reminds me of when I teach All Quiet on the Western Front and my students don't seem to grasp that the Germans lost because the hero of the novel is German. Anyway, thanks for making me feel silly :).
