About meHello! I’m Miranda. I’m smitten with and fascinated by words. ♥

I’m a community college English professor (I teach primarily composition/rhetoric courses). I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature.

I’m also a writer (you can see my writing portfolio at mirandaswriting.net). I’ve written for a number of sites and publications and hope to continue doing so.

My research interests include composition, rhetoric, the history of rhetoric, rhetorical analysis, etymology, the public understanding of science, and the relationship between clear and precise writing and the effective dissemination of knowledge.

And I may be the love child of the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Gallifrey DNA lab. Fingers crossed!
