About me I am a Book Ministry Leader, meaning I am passionate about helping others grow through reading GREAT books! My passion is books, but I also love to write, scrapbook, learn about Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, and to play piano “by ear". I hope to someday speak, read, and write Spanish fluently even though I'm just learning right now! :-P
For the past five years, my average number of books read per year is around 55, although, the last couple of years have seen that number decline a bit (life's too crazy!). I belong to several online book discussion groups, and I spend a good deal of time searching for even more books to read. My personal library has grown tremendously thanks to library sales, goodwill shops, and yard sales, as well as Freecycle.org!
I'm also a Book Reviewer for Bethany House publishers.
My favorite genre is mystery/suspense. I love Christian fiction, and really enjoy reading Christian "emergent" nonfiction (ie: “A Scandalous Freedom" by Steve Brown, “The Barbarian Way" by Erwin Raphael McManus, “Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell). Other books I enjoy are ones set in the time periods of Regency England or Ancient Egypt. Favorite authors include Christian Jacq, Susan May Warren, Gaelen Foley, Sandra Brown, Karen Kingsbury, and Lisa Wingate.
For everyday rambles about books, check out my blog: THE BOOK ZONE.
:-)
Thanks for visiting my bookshelf!
About my library I've had my library catalogued in a database for the past 4 years, and I think that it's great to be able to show everyone my collection! I currently own over 1100 books!
I'm a sucker for a good cover, therefore a lot of the books on my virtual shelf, here, are chosen for their covers...not necessarily because that's the edition I have.
My favorite genres are mystery/suspense, Christian fiction, health/fitness, and memoirs. I love Ancient Egypt, and Regency England. I also love arty things ... music, drawing, architecture... so my shelf is peppered with these sorts of books.
I collect Classics, but haven't read many of them. I hope to someday. :? People tell me that the older you get, the more you enjoy them, so maybe I've got a few years...?

If you're interested, you can read what she had to say, and questions and answers posed by readers, by going to

then choosing Discussion Forums, then The Buzz.
She's really nice. Did you know she's an artist, too?

I write a book review column for a regional parenting magazine (Island Parent), for the Canadian Book Review Annual (a national reference resource that reviews every book published in Canada each year - used by libraries, teachers, etc), and edit the Victoria Children's Literature Newsletter. I'm gradually copying all my print reviews onto LibraryThing...
When you say you review for Bethany House, how does that work? That's a publishing house, right? Do you review their books for the website? Or do you review manuscripts pre-publication? Curious minds need to know!
Thanks for swinging by my virtual bookshelves!
Cheers,

This LibraryThing is pretty crazy. I also love to read great books with the hope of growing, I love scrapbooking, and mostly, Ancient Egypt! I'm going to check out that group.

I enjoyed "Buck Naked Faith". Sandras is very real and honest about his faith - especially his failings as a younger man while trying to be Christian. That sort of transparency and honesty is what we need more of.
Hopefully I'll continue to add to this. Library Thing is waaaay cool.
