About meI'm into family history and foster homeless hamsters for a small animal rescue (yes you read that correctly). I work full time and have a teenager so reading for pleasure is really a luxury I have to make time for. I've enjoyed LT a lot especially the Early Reviewers program!

I have wide-ranging interests in books. I seem to go in cycles. I'm sure my interests will keep evolving, as I find myself drawn to new topics regularly. I am an IT manager by experience, a mathematician, musician, and librarian by training and work in a corporate records setting. I am the rare librarian who has not read the classics. Occasionally I play the oboe. I Google interesting new ideas for fun.

About my libraryAll my life I've kept all the books I buy - some would say "hoarded." Recently I've joined BookMooch in an attempt to avoid buying another set of bookcases. Instead, my To-Be-Read pile has grown.

My collection dates back to the early 1980s and one or two books date back further than that. I have a few really old books from my father's and grandparents' collections that I haven't catalogued yet. I've been adding my books to LT a bit at a time. Most are completed, but my catlaog remains a work in progress.

For twenty years or more I've read the Readers Digest condensed book series. While we could argue the merits of this from a literary perspective, I've found that for a working mom the shortened format is really a good thing. Unfortunately none of these titles are actually catalogued in my library, so occasionally I buy or borrow a book I've already read! Now that my kid is grown (almost) I've stopped buying the condensed series and I use the old copies for decorative purposes on my highest bookshelves. They are quite good-looking without their dust jackets!

I also keep my daughter's books in my collection.
