About meI was an only child and my parents taught me to read when I was three, mainly through the use of the "SEE the words - HEAR the story - READ the book" records. By the time I was five, I had read my first "grownup" book; a collection of Greek myths, followed quickly by Burton's translation of the Thousand and One Nights. Many years later, a friend would remark jokingly, "How can you tell John doesn't like a book? He's only read it twice." Not surprizingly, I now manage the textbook department of an off-campus bookstore located in Blacksburg, Virginia.

About my libraryAlthough some would say my tastes are cheap and trivial, I believe it represents my worldview quite nicely. A little pain, a little hallucinatory, a little bitter, a little classic, a little fact, and almost always a happy ending.
