About my libraryI haven't "starred" any of my books as I can't see the point of adding books I don't like - hence all of the books listed in my library can be assumed to be rated three stars or more.

Dear mudville,

Finished The Plague. Not my favorite, but okay. Went on family camping trip last weekend. It was fun except for intermittant rain. Guess since we aren't getting summer this year I'll have to get used to that.

Not much else going on. Went to the library and got a Steinbeck and an Atwood I haven't read yet. Plus Amy lent me a few to read. Soooooo many books... so little time (actually I have time but fall asleep). Hope all is well. Later

Mudville,

I keep forgetting to comment on your photo. You certainly should update it, since you were obviously much younger in that one. Tee hee.

Can you guess who???
Good Morning mudville,

Thanks for kind words about review. I had a difficult time with it because I liked it so much and wanted to convey that it in the review. After several starts and deletes I just said - this is it and submitted it. Of course I have re-written it in my mind several times since then, but that is just the way I am.

I don't read any other reviews before I write mine because I don't want to be influenced by someone elses opinions, so I found it interesting after submitting it that the other reviewer also said it ended too soon. Not that it was an unsatisfactory ending, but just that I wanted more.

The court cases CD sounds interesting. I have just started The Plague by Camus becuse I liked the Stranger so much. The only thing that bothers me about reading allegorical books is that I find myself trying to comprehend the comparisons too much and I feel like I am reading two stories at once. Some people may enjoy that but I find it distracting.

Am hoping to start the Teton Marsh one next.... but who knows. Amy is going to read Cats & Dogs but when she finishes you can read it next if you want to. Well off to work now. Later.

mudville,
I read the Catcher in the Rye so long ago that most of it escapes me now, although what I remember most at the time is thinking "What's all the hoopla?" Maybe if I read it now I would get more out of it, but life is too short and there are too many books available to re-read ones that may or may not leave you with feelings of awe.
All is well here. Work is slow and dull, but I am ready to start my ER book today and am hoping it will be a good one.

I read your reviews and they seem very informative if one would be thinking of reading either book. I didn't read either one, so I have no opinions, but may be tempted by the second one after reading your review. Well, must get ready for the office. Hope you have a good day off.

oh, yesterday on my morning walk, there were two large birds in the field and I didn't recognize them so when I got home I looked them up, thinking they must be storks - but they were cranes (they are supposed to bring good luck aren't they??). their territory doesn't extend farther south or east than Michigan so it was exciting to see them. must of gotten off their migratory path somehow.
Dear mudville,
Enjoyed our chat yesterday. Always too much to talk about and too little time...sigh Anyway, FYI, you said you wanted your profile to be private, but I noticed that it was not. If you want to change it you must go to Edit your Profile and click on Account and change it from public to private, if you still want to.

Once again, I urge you to sign up for Early Reviewers, who knows.... with all that good karma you have coming from standing in lines waiting, you might win a lot of books. Hope you have a good weekend.

Someone who isn't trying to scam someone else,

Dear Mudville,
Guess What!!! This morning I logged on to LibraryThing and saw I had a message and assumed it was from you. But lo and behold - I have snagged another book from Early Reviewers. I am so excited. It is - A Year of Cats and Dogs. Therefore, due to this event, I must recant my statement to you about never writing a review again. You have to become a member of Early Reviewers too so we can anticipate together the excitement of maybe getting a book each month to read and review. Off to work now.
Snarkily yours,
morningwalker
Dear Mudville,
WELL, I will admit to the snarky vacation day remark but, again your return words were so caustic I don't think I ever want to encounter any more like them on the internet. Therefore, I have stopped writing reviews forever(I hope that weighs heavy on your conscience. Even though, yes, personally I do find them helpful most of the time. I try to look at what the average star rating is and go from there. However, I have gotten a couple that had lot of stars and I personally couldn't get into them. Besides, since I am using the library as my source of books, and I have to return them in 2 weeks, I just get several more than I know I'll have time to read, and read the ones that grab me the quickest. So far it's a good plan. Well, I must bid you farewell for now. Happy perusing.
Your friend still, i think,

Dear Mudville,
I will have a nice day if - and only IF I want to. You can't make me. I have the Beetle Rock Book in my car and I will drop it off to you one of these days when I am in the neighborhood. Perhap tomorrow, since you will be at work because you don't have anymore vacation days, right?

Your friend,
Morningwalker
Mudville,

Oops, I just realized you accepted my invite to be your friend. Please disregard snotty last few sentences of last comment. Have a nice day!

Your Friend,

Mudville,
I read your comment and felt my face flush at the mean, horrible, despicable comment and couldn't believe someone could be so critical of such an unassuming book review - THEN - I saw who it was from and said - "Oh, it's just him." So, do you wanna be friends? Let me know quickly because my friends calendar is filling up and I can't guarantee a spot for you! Besides, for God's sake, all you have to do is click on the invitaion!!!!

Hoping to be your friend,

Morningwalker
Hey mudville,
