About meI'm retired and, like all of the people on this site, I love to read! Even though I have a lot more free time I still can't find enough time to read and do everything else I would love to do. I have traveled the globe and finally settled down in Arizona and as soon as I can find the energy to leave this oven I am out of here!
About my libraryMy library is nowhere nearly as large as I would like and is much too big for the space I have to fill. If there is a flat surface in my house it has books on it. As of now, I have only catalogued about half of my books which means I have about 3,500 titles left to enter but they don't have the handy dandy bar code which made the first part of the job actually fun...yes, I am a big kid and proud of it. :-) As a child, while other girls were imagining meeting the man of their dreams and their storybook wedding, I used to picture myself in my personal library which had wall to wall books, was several stories tall and came complete with an attached rolling ladder for easy access. Of course the picture included a fireplace with matching wingback chairs and ottomans so people could put their feet up in front of the fire and lose themselves in the world of their choosing. Years later I tell myself the important part is that I got the books and the rest was just window dressing. The sad thing for me is that I realize that none of my family or friends feel the same way about books as I do and when I am gone these wonderful friends will probably end up in boxes in a storage unit somewhere. I keep hoping that I will meet someone who will be able to give them a good home and will treat them lovingly while allowing them to fulfill their purpose...to entertain and delight.

And anyone who knows the genesis of native American gaming knows that it started through a legal loophole intended to allow bingo as a fundraiser. Many of the casinos have been funded by wealthy Asians. That is not an ethnic slur either. It's a fact.
I applaud you for standing up where you imagine you see intolerance but there is none in the pages of The Big Dirt Nap. Just some good guys, some bad guys and a couple of crimes.

I hate to tell you this, but this is definitely a question for you and your photo editing software. We can't help with this.
I DO think it's awesome you're scanning covers in - and the scans you've taken should be able to be scaled down, so your existing efforts have not been for naught.
Good luck!

"I am sure the answer to my question is somewhere on this site but I have looked until my eyeballs hurt and I can't find it. I am not a techie, to say the least, but I have scanned some book covers into my computer so that I can include the cover art in my library. The problem is when I try to upload the scanned cover I get an error message about the file being too large. I have no idea how to change the scan or number of pixels. I scanned them into my computer using my Canon MX310. I love the feature which allows you to view your library by seeing the actual book cover and I would much rather see that than the generic book cover when your book cover is not in the database. I won't say I am judging a book by it's cover but when I scan my library to find something to read the cover art has a way of catching my eye while jumping up and down screaming, me! me! me! If you or anyone else can tell me what I need to do (in the easist terms possible) to get this cover art up!
loaded, I would so appreciate the help. A big thank you to everyone responsible for this great service. I have to say this is my all time favorite website ever, not to mention a wonderful tool to all of us bibliophiles. My insurance agent loves you for finally getting me on the road to a current inventory!"
