Nope, didn't read it and I'm clearly not interested. Everyone I've talked to loved it.
If you haven't picked up Living the Hockey Dream (Brian Kennedy's newest hockey book) yet, I HIGHLY recommend it! Haven't written my review yet, but it'll be up here when I get around to it.

Hope you're enjoying the season so far,
Kat
Hi Melissa, thank you for your compliment on my media guides entries. I still have many more to enter, but I never seem to have the time to enter all the information I want included. As for the covers, yes I scanned them, as I scan all the covers of my entries. The media guides I have already entered were actually in a pile of books I was scanning and then entering. The rest are all stored in filing boxes along with all my other college hockey material that I still have to add to my LT library.

Just wanted to let you know that we've been given permission by Tim to continue the BannedBooksLibrary project!
The money came as well Melissa. I figured you might have been up in Ottawa the other week for the draft. As it happens we're going up that way towards the end of this week for a few days. Anyway watched the draft on television and thought the Rangers were lucky to get Del Zotto at 20--in my own mocks he was coming in around 12 and 13.

Anyway great pictures of the development camp. Would you mind if I passed them along to the Ranger posters at Hockey's Future?
There will never be an end to the books you'll want. There always will be a couple more. It's like an ocean.

Lawrence was an interesting writer--very lucid. An unhappy man though. It would have been nice if some of our foreign policy gurus and maybe even some of our war planners had taken a gander at his work before committing our troops to the present Iraqi campaign. Not every culture changes at the same speed. A close friend of mine--who as it happens coached many years in the local hockey programs--mites, peewees, midgets--even juniors--his son who had gotten into refereeing--even doing Div. 3 games decided to chuck all that and enlisted in the Marine Corps.
Melissa--I'll keep an eye out for it but I'll hold on to it until I've heard from you.

Looked through your library--interesting to see T. E. Lawrence by the way--though not his seven pillars of wisdom.

Anyway a couple books from the 70's--growing up I was a sports nut not a book nut. Eventually as it happens hockey took over everything as far as sports were concerned. Ken Dryden's 'Face off at the Summit' chronicled the first Canada Cup series between elite Canadian professional hockey players and the so-called Russian amateurs--and is a very interesting period piece. The Canadians eventually won but by the skin of their teeth. It was a real shock at the time that the Russian team pushed them to the edge. Ira Gitler--a jazz musician wrote books on both jazz and hockey. His 'Blood on the ice' I liked a lot--a history of hockey rage and on-ice brawls up until the time. Of course I was much younger then and growing up in the age of the Broad St. bullies quite a lot more revenge motivated.
I was very happy when Cherepanov fell to the Rangers in last year's draft. Talent wise he should have probably been top 5. His frame is still slight and he's going to fulfill his contract in Avangard Omsk--so he's at least one more season away. The NHL's contract dispute with some European leagues particularly the Russians is what probably more than any other factor dropped him. The new KHL is also something that I'm sure makes them wonder. Rumors are that the same Avangard team is pitching Jagr $12 million per. Makes me wonder a little what Cherepanov might do--since he'll probably have more than one good option. There is also the concussion he's sustained against team Canada last summer from the Sutter hit--his numbers didn't improve. His countryman Anisimov had a very good season as a 19 year old in Hartford however. Alex needs to fill out and get stronger like most prospects. He is a goal scorer though playing in one of the best men's leagues in the world. It's hard to see him missing.

Anyway on Staal bottom row. Second from the left. 100006Lz6pvz.yBg looks like a good one.
