About meI'm a PhD student in history who misses reading regular books. I used to live in York, but now I live in America again. I enjoy rearranging my tags.
About my libraryThis site is giving me mad library envy. I clearly need more books.

"Uncommon Ground" has me wondering whether my great grandmother was born on U.S. soil or in Africa, based on the photographed African styled house in Edgefield, SC- an area where she is found in census records.
I mentioned in my review/post on Ferguson's book that you never know where information on your Ancestors is going to come from. Do you think it will be time well spent digging through similar books? Can you recommend some specific archeological books that a family historian may consider?
Thanks in advance.
George
