About me"The best moments in reading are when you come across something- a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things- which you had thought unique and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours." Alan Bennett

About my libraryMy Library Thing lists all the books I have read (that I can remember:). I use tags to depict which books I own, read in my book club, favorites, etc. I am extremely careful as to which books I rate a 5. These are the books which have touched my soul. No rating means the book is on my stack of "to be read".

I was just looking over your library, as we share many of the same books. I love that you star your reviews, and especially your method of expanding on the review. I wanted some ideas for books to read, and thought this would be a good way of getting suggestions. We agree on many of the books, but of course are wildly off on others. One star for "Good Earth"? Really? One of my favorite books of all time. Also "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". I just re-read that yet again... Go figure. But I will try some of those you really liked that are still missing from my library. Viv
Hi there,
we have so many books in common! you must be a person of exceedingly refined and superb taste.have a great day!
Hi there! Our tastes are so ridiculously similar, that I added you as an "interesting library." Hopefully you don't mind!
It's nice to meet you! I look forward to exploring your books.
Since we seem to share many of the same interests, I checked over your catalog looking for some ideas for good reads; I was thrilled that you rated your books, as it helps me to determine where we are critically. In most cases, books that we both read, we rate somewhat the same. But it was stunning to see how far apart we were on some books that I really loved and you hated, or vice-versa. I didn't jot them down, but [Good Earth] and [I Don't Know How She Does It], as well as your apparent dislike the the Harry Potter books were absolute favorites of mine. It's just interesting to me that despite shared opinions, two people will suddenly diverge so sharply. Just an observation. Thanks for letting me peek into your library. I did get some good ideas. A couple: [Fall on Your Knees], [Heart is a Lonely Hunter] (which I somehow never read), and [What We Keep].
thanks for adding me as a friend and to your interesting libraries! i am glad u liked the quote!! good luck with your class!
Hi - Just a short note to thank you for taking the time to rate most of your books. It is very helpful. You anways come up very high on my list of shared books. Another reader suggeted that i might like The Red Tent. Seeing that you gave it a 5 star rating has made it a MUST on my very soon to be read list.
in reference to the books you gave five stars indicating they touched your soul, they touched mine as well!! like the quote: One sure window into a person's soul is his reading list. - Mary B. W. Tabor
Hi there,
