About meThe Newman Catholic Center is a 60,000 sq. ft. facility located on the UMass campus and is dedicated to serving the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Inspired by John Henry Cardinal Newman's motto, "heart speaks to heart," we reach out to all people of good will.
The Newman Center is an Apostolate of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield. We offer traditional Catholic worship, a wide variety of service-related and social events, services to students as well as a library.
The Newman Center is here for everyone, not just Catholics. So, when you are on campus, stop by and check us out.
About my libraryBefore the Internet... there were books! The Newman Library has a lot of them... books that is. From Scripture studies, to theology, to the Church's social teachings, we've got books.
This is a lending Library, so feel free to check out books. Simply write your name and the date on the book card and place the card in the labeled box at the circulation desk. When you return the book, just place it on the cart cleverly marked, 'Returned Books.'
Like most Libraries, it is a quiet place. Perfect for working on that paper (and yes, the library is covered by our FREE WiFi service), studying, or... just read a book!
