About meMy reviews also appear on my blog: http://booktsunami.blogspot.com/
My Reading/Reviewing Style--
--Unfortunately, I'm a slow, deliberate reader. I read a lot of books translated into English, especially from Chinese, Japanese, and French, so I often spend time wondering why certain words were chosen in particular sentences. I love word-crafting and perhaps this slows my reading a bit.
--I'm also a very committed reviewer. I seldom attempt to review a book without having read every word, unless it was so poor as to be unreadable.
--Interests: world cultures, China, Chinese Language (Mandarin), Japan, Japanese, Africa, India, French, linguistics, art, music, literature, history, cinema, anthropology, sociology, and dogs.
--At college I majored in Chinese Language & Literature when conventional wisdom was to study Japanese. I held a few different jobs and Fate brought me a Japanese prince instead of a Chinese one, so I had to study Japanese anyway. I can now be forgetful in at least 3 languages.
--I love to read non-fiction and fiction concerning China and Japan, and I welcome the chance to read and review Advance Reading Copies of new books of all kinds.

TBR is not so much a pile but a room full.
Over the years, I've kept some 'book diaries.' If I ever find them, I'll be able to record how I reacted to the readings. They're not really reviews--just brief comments.
A list of other favorite bookstores: HALF-PRICE BOOKS in Houston, TX, and BOOKS & COMPANY, Dayton, OH. In Tokyo the best place for new books in English is MARUZEN BOOKS, north side of Tokyo Station.

Thanks for dropping by to my profile. I kept meaning to reply to you sooner but I have been a bit inundated. Your kind words about my blog are greatly appreciated. The picture comes from an illustration of The Master and Margarita which I am reading with the Salon at the moment. I thought it was appropriate after my recent battle with the powers that run LT. Sigh. It's hard for me to stay out of trouble.
I notice that you have not been very active on your thread recently. I hope everything is well with you there. Are you reading anything interesting?
'Tatty bye' I have never heard, but it may be a regional British variation of 'Tah tah' which we have always used in my family for saying goodbye.
Best wishes,
Murr
