About meWhen I started writing in LiveJournal, I chose my user name after hours and hours of reflection.

Unfortunately, LiveJournal only allows 15 characters and my choice had 16. Because I was completely smitten, I chose to drop a letter and stick with the misspelled name of nodressrehersal. It's from a Tragically Hip song, "... no dress rehearsal, this is our life."

So it's my LiveJournal name and now me playing in LibraryThing.

I turned 53 in 2009, and am mostly giddy with delight about it. I've been happily married for 32 years; we have two sons, 24 and 18, aka our surly youths.

As a professional organizer, I'm authorized to say there's such a thing as too many suitcases, too much jello in the pantry, or too many dolls with eyes that move, but never, ever, too many books.

About my libraryI read as much as time allows, mostly well-written fiction; my pace lately is slower than usual - a book a month.

I have to own the books I read, and I earmark pages because I can. Money spent on books is ALWAYS money well-spent.

I have chosen to rate only a few dozen books. The ones with five stars are those I would select if forced to fit my entire library into one good-sized box. Otherwise, I mostly love them all.

Hello, and thanks for adding me to your Int. Library list. I loved what you said above about loving all your books and being able to fit your 5-star books into a box. I am setting aside a special area for books I love so much that I want to reread them. I may be in a nursing home before I find that kind of time, but hey, one has to have something to look forward to, right?

I may have to move from SW Missouri to western New York so I can join you, Griff, and Bonnie (brenzi) in your new group. Sounds like fun!

One more thing. I see you too are a John Irving fan. I am ecstatic today because I am getting an ER copy of his Last Night in Twisted River. Look for my review in a few weeks!
Thanks very much for your note.
Actually, a few of us started a group called "Buffalo Bookers" a couple years ago. But none of us kept up with it, so it has been largely dormant since '07. Perhaps it's because there are so many things to explore on LibraryThing... and so little time :)
Thanks also for adding my library to your list. I've done the same with yours.
Brian
Well exactly the same result I got. How is it possible for so many people to have only 19 books that I've never heard of? Looks like this idea isn't going to pan out. Let's see what griff thinks.
Hi,
I am sending you the same e comment I sent griff.
I e mailed Tim and here's what he sent back.

How about these options?

1. Go to http://www.librarything.com/local and click "Local Members."
2. You can start a new group for where you live, perhaps starting by inviting local members from 1.

Best,
Tim

If you go there you will see thwere are many WNY members. So I guess the next step is to start inviting others. What do you think?
How about a Facebook group? Could be a private one, I suppose (which can be done on FB). Griff
I saw the note from Bonnie to you - and the comment about "Is there a group for WNY Library Thing members?" One of the more frustrating things about LibraryThing is the messaging feature. I don't believe there is a way to send a note to you and Bonnie at the same time, same note, single copy. It would be interesting to have a bit of a WNY reading circle through LibraryThing. I also sent this message to Bonnie. Hope your weekend is a good one so far! Griff
I somehow got to you through a comment you made on Griff's page. I'd been going back and forth with him about The Day the Falls Stood Still. I'm not sure about the difference between Interesting Libraries and Friends. I always hesitate to ask people I don't know to be my friend so I guess I feel more comfortable with the Interesting libraries. You add an interesting library by clicking on it in the top right corner. Anyway you do have an interesting library.
Hi,
I came across your profile through another member who also lives in WNY as do I. It looks like we share a lot of the same books so I added you to my interesting libraries. I also loved Bel Canto and Gilead. I've added Too Close to the Falls to my ever groing TBR list. Have you read The Day the Falls Stood Still? I loved that one too. I wonder if there is a group of Western New Yorkers? Happy reading.
Yah for friends!
