Hello,
We share a ton of books, considering I only have about 450 entered into LibraryThing. I think we must appreciate a lot of the same things in a book! Though you definitely have books from a number of authors I have not read. Clicking on some of the randomly selected books, I can see there are lots I'd love to read. Wish I was a fast reader!
Out of curiosity, what did you think of All of an Instant by Garfinkle? Did you read that one? I thought it was pretty unique and really enjoyed the heck out of it, but it was pretty unpopular. I can understand why, maybe, but wonder what you thought of it.
Just based on the people you list as your favorite authors, I see a book missing from our shared books that I'm sure you would think a lot of - 'Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' by Gregory Maguire. It's had a lot of press because of the musical and the title makes it sound almost gimicky, but I found it to be unbelievably insightful about the nature of good and evil and about how things happen in life, and it was profoundly moving. With over 2600 books in your library I'm sure you don't need any suggestions, but it's one of the best books I've ever read and I have to mention it. The sequel Son of a Witch has many of the same qualities but seriously needs to be tied up with remaining books in his Oz series (though Wicked really stands well on its own). His Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was really more like a historical novel even though it is based on Cinderella; but it was equally moving and a really beautiful book, and you'd probably like it as well, as I did.
Well, I just thought I'd say hi. It's nice to see someone with so many of the same reading interests.
Jim
Howdy, Mr. Blumenfeld,

I was just looking at Matthew Woodring Stover's books here on LT and I was quite surprised to note that you have his Flash Gordon book. I had heard the individual(s) who commissioned the book didn't like Stover's work, but that the book was nevertheless, shall we say, kick-ass. Thus, as I am a big fan of Stover's writings, I was wondering if you would be so kind as to point me toward your source for the book, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, in the hope that I may somehow obtain a copy for myself. Thanks in advance for any information you may choose to send my way.

Very nice collection of graphic novel-ish comics you've amassed, I must say (and I really mean that. I'm not just trying to butter you up so you'll help me out with the Flash Gordon thing ;) Seriously, though, I'm both envious and covetous of your comic library.

Thanks for your time,

bookstothesky
Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Tideland, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Hope you love it!
We share "The New Decameron: More Tales from the Saragossa Manuscript by Jan Potocki". It took me about 10 years to find the 2nd vol! Damn, was I glad to find it. Probably find it on a web search in five minutes or less now.
