About meI'm an associate professor of History at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia., where I've taught since 2000. A former reporter, I've won several awards in both journalism and history. Born in Birmingham, England, spent my early years outside Montreal, and then family moved to Oklahoma. I've also lived in rural Nebraska (NOT my favorite place in the world) and Los Angeles.
Earned a doctorate in history at the University of Oklahoma, studied with David W. Levy and Stephen Norwood. Have two books, one--Oil, Wheat & Wobblies--is on LibraryThing. The other. The Confessions of Caliban, a short story collection, I published through iUniverse just before I had to have heart surgery so I could have it in print just in case.
Currently working on an historical true crime about serial bigamist/poisoner Johann Hoch in Chicago in 1905, and a detailed history of the 1917 Green Corn Rebellion in Oklahoma. Besides writing, I also edit an on-line journal, The Sextant, which showcases the best work of CNU's history majors, and has been published since 2002.
