About meLet's see....I love books? I must own them all! I have OCD and I am a hoarder...and I hoard books...books are kinda big, they take up a lot of space. Oh, well. I work in my local library. I'm intelligent (which does not come across very well in my writing, lol) and I have a BA in History (I was one of those nerd types that actually went to college, not to acquire job skills, which is important for survival, but to acquire knowledge that is pretty much useless when looking for a job).

About my libraryI am at 5,016 books and counting. I love collecting series books and juvenile/young adult books. All of the books I have cataloged on library thing are ones that I own. (added 7/26/08)I am now also including books I've owned but sold, mostly so I don't duplicate so much:-) I was recently able to weed 1721 books from my library--I'm very proud! Of course, I've also been adding to my collection too:-)

(added 2/10/09) My current addiction is manga. Within a year I've gone from owning four to owning 140 (manga, manhwa, and world manga). I can't wait until manga becomes one of my top tags. It'll take a while, since I mostly purchase manga new (Most of the books in the rest of my book collection I have purchased used from FOL booksales at the local library.).

I think we have a lot in common with the hoarding. The only thing that restrains me is space at this point. But my partner & I have agreed that we're going to need a designated library once we get a big enough place, between the books he and I have and the fact that... well... I seem to give away 100 books and buy 300 more!
Hey Nyyki. How is life for you? And how many books would you read on average a week? DO you have hundreds of children's novels in your library because you enjoy reading them or if it just to fully catalogue your library that you include them? THeos bless
Your home must be a veritable library! I hope to make mine that way some day.

Reading is a wonderful escape from the worries and nonsense that fill our heads, indeed, so it's no wonder so many of us turn to books. Some OCDers follow the obsessive collection line and other live the more minimalist lifestyle, depending on the bent of our compulsions, I suppose.
Thanks Nykki and to you too. Yesterday I walked in the annual Easter march they have in Australia for the resurrection and it was very enjoyable Do/Did you get any time off from work?
Thanks for the Interesting Libraries Add! I've reciprocated as I find your collection to be quite intriguing as well. The sheer size of it is daunting, however; I wonder how you find space for so many. Are they all in your home or do you keep some of them in storage elsewhere? My catalog is up to a mere 545 as of today and I still manage to run out of shelf space.

By the way, I also have OCD and have noticed that a great many of us gravitate towards reading (and certainly collecting) books. Have you met many others in the same proverbial boat?
Hi Nykki,
I'm just wondering...where do you keep all your books? I have about half what you have and am running out of room in my house!
WOW! You and I share 85 books! You have the most books I have of anyone on my shared-books list!
Hi Nykki,
you seem to have a messed up author field for Two Men in the Temple. If you make the author "Scheck, Joann" and put "Jim Roberts" in other authors, you should be able to see that a few other people also have this book: if it doesn't happen automatically, you'll be able to combine them manually.
Regards, Jim Roberts (but not that one!)
Hey, I just noticed that we have a LOT of books in common! Much more than actually show up here, since all of my Babysitter's Club and most of my Sweet Valley is in storage and not catalogued yet.
So far, you're my top LibraryThinger that I share the most books with--261, as of today. :)
Have you read/used the People's Home Library, or are you a collector? Would be interested in how you came to have it!
