About meAlthough my education is that of a Theoretical Physicist, I am a 25 year Retail Professional (District Manager). That switch in careers is explained by my zeal for immediately tangible gratification. Physics, although a wonder, can take a long time....
My mind is stimulated within my library, and my thrills are fueled in my car...
About my libraryMy Library is small but select. I see myself as inquisitive, more than I do a mass reader.
I will often fly off on a subject tangent, reading a few books once a topic captures my interest.
Those reading interests include Financial Markets (born of my analytical nature), History (inspired by the best teacher I ever had, whose History class used Toynbee's "Study of History" as the backdrop) and selected fiction (based largely on the style of writing).
I have been working on Dante's Comedia for a few years, and do not expect that study to see its completion for a number of years.
I do read other members reviews of Titles found in my own Library, and often find insights in your thoughts.... thank you for that.
I do not read daily newspapers, nor do I trust the integrity of the televised news media. News Radio tells me all that I need to enjoy that which life places before me.
My First Edition of Toynbee's "Study of History" is my prize... all 12 volumes.
My bookcases also store my copies of "The American Scholar" , "The Wilson Quarterly", and "Lapham's Quartely".
My Library is also my refuge, where I smoke an occasional cigar, and surf the internet on any one of my 4 computer systems.
