About meI finished my Masters of Science in Information Studies (that's the new fancy moniker for Library Science) at the University of Texas at Austin in May 2008- hooray! I am currently teaching third grade, and hope to be a school librarian in the next year or so.

About my libraryThe books I list "in my library" are books that I have read, and do not always own. I much prefer reading a book to owning it. I am a librarian, after all!

Noticed you liked The Bluest Eye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

OK, then, I'm going to follow your lead and list books I've read as well......
Hey, Peach!

I just found you on LT! How are you? How's life? How's the job?
Do you own these books or are you checking them out from the library haha?
We only share 4 titles right now, but I'm only one fourth of the way through my collection.
Should I put stuff I've read as well as own on here?
What are your thoughts, hmmm?

Here's a unique opportunity for all of our LibraryThing friends to take a peek at our prepress review copy of Preparation: [H]ead before it is officially published!

We are awaiting our prepress copies to arrive in the mail for us to look over before giving the official go-ahead and assigning the ISBN. Although the link may allow you to purchase the book now, please don't! No matter how valuable you may think it may prove in a future eBay auction, we don't want anyone to be disappointed should we discover errors in the physical copy.

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did writing it.

Feel free to sound off with review commentary!

Here's the private link to check it out:

hey. : ) thanks for asking. I mean that it pushed the limits of what I'm comfortable with. In the book The Favored Child it's incest. My squick'o meter rose to about 8/10 while reading some parts of the book. : ) I did however perversely as it seems, finish the book. I really like her books, but this isn't a favorite. if you haven't read gregory and you're interested i would recommend The Other Boleyn Girl or The Queen's Fool to start. They may be a little squicky in some places though. : )
Hey Kristen! It's Emily A. from summer class! I hope to see you around the iSchool next semester. In the meantime, I'll enjoy looking at your collection . . . feel free to take a peek at mine. This is so much fun!
Of course I'll be your library buddy :)
OMG! It's you. Hooray :)
I will be looking at your collection very soon.

I am also a librarian and may be moving to Austin in a few months. How's the library scene in town? Job outlook? Any active librarian social groups?
Thanks for the info.

Hellooo gorgeous! We share 38 books, hee hee! Obviously a sign of fabulous taste on both our parts.
Hi. Thanks for visiting my site and for your kind words.

I just got your messages on my profile. The whole Lost reviews thing was my wife's idea, but I've really been enjoying reading books I missed and also revisiting ones that I read long ago. Amazing how books change as we get older isn't it?

As to finding teaching jobs, I'd keep plugging away. If you're elementary certified, I know that there were at least two elementary positions open in Georgetown ISD as of mid-last week. If you're secondary, make sure that your resume and cover letter get to the principal and the department chair since sometimes the dept. chair actually makes the decision. My first job was in Taylor ISD about as far from Austin as I could get and still be in the Austin area.

Remember that many schools will still be hiring for a month so keep at it and good luck.
