About mesingle, retired, grandfather of five (father of two); love baseball; Ray Charles, J.T., J.S. Bach, Don Henley, Dizzy Gillespie, Frederick Chopin and Billie Holiday; The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Princess Bride, Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson's) [actually, I love anything by or with Emma Thompson], Pride and Prejudice (Jennifer Ehle's) and Persuasion (Amanda Root's).
About my libraryThere was very little non-fiction (and what was there was mostly about words and languages and computers) before I went back to school. Now there are a whole lot of books about spiritual direction and spirituality in general. A little poetry (most all in English but a tiny bit in German and Italian and even less in French). I love Laozi (Lao Tzu) and own over fifty translations. I adore Jane Austen. Several translations of Dante's Comedy (Dorothy Sayers' is the one which speaks to me) and The Bhagavad Gita (Easwaran's is my favorite). All of Tony Hillerman's Navajo mysteries. (Jim Chee is my hero. Why'd he quit studying to be an hataalii?) I like the Brother Cadfael books for their history (hated the BBC series -- that guy was NOT the Cadfael I knew and loved).
