About meMy new novel The Moon in the Mango Tree will be released May 1st and I'm thrilled because it's based upon the true story of my grandmother's life in the 1920's. This is my third book, and second novel. I'm a reformed lawyer - was a partner with a large corporate law firm. Am now a writer and loving every minute of it. The Moon in the Mango Tree is special to me because it's based upon the true story of my grandmother's life. I was very close to her. She's gone now, but I know she's watching over my shoulder. My grandmother was beautiful, smart, irrepressible, and talented--she was trained to sing grand opera. But she gave up her dream to marry my grandfather and travel with him, first to the jungles of north Siam, then to Bangkok, where he became a royal physician. My mother was born there. But in 1928 her longing to sing, to have something of her own, overwhelmed her. Despite her great love for my grandfather, she had a choice to make, and decided that love is not enough. Leaving her husband in Siam, she traveled on to Paris, Lausanne, and Rome to pursue her musical career.After a time, she faced a final choice between her music and my grandfather. I'm doing a book tour starting in May (think Coal Miner's daughter!) It's going to be exciting and I hope to meet some of you along the way! Pamela
