About meI am a Fantasy and Sci-Fi author. My novels feature gay & lesbian heroes. My first series is a Fantasy trilogy called The Chronicles of Firma. The second volume, "Scion's Blood", has just been released and I am working hard on the third. It should be out in late spring/early summer of '08. I have also started a new Science Fiction series called Starlander. Volume One, "The Ambassador's Mission", should be out in the fall of '08.
RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME: I am living in Maine for the winter, though I plan to move back to Ann Arbor, MI next summer. I have been HIV+ for eleven years. It's a drag, but not the end of the world. My best friend is my cat, Raja. He has traveled all over with me, even to Prague, where we lived for four months in 2002. I love reading, writing, cooking, animals, travel, science and history. I am currently single, unless you count being married to my work. I quit smoking five years ago. I don't drink to excess. I love movies of all kinds, but especially horror flicks.
About my libraryI'm working on cataloging my entire library, though it's taking quite a bit more time than I had thought. Most of it consists of genre fiction, i.e. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mystery & Horror, but I also do a lot of research on various subjects for my books, so there's quite a lot of reference material on my shelves too.

One summer night, out on a flat headland, all but surrounded by the waters of the bay, the horizons were remote and distant rims on the edge of space. Millions of stars blazed in darkness, and on the far shore a few lights burned in cottages. Otherwise there was no reminder of human life. My companion and I were alone with the stars: the misty river of the Milky Way flowing across the sky, the patterns of the constellations standing out bright and clear, a blazing planet low on the horizon. It occurred to me that if this were a sight that could be seen only once in a century, this little headland would be thronged with spectators. But it can be see many scores of nights in any year, and so the lights burned in the cottages and the inhabitants probably gave not a thought to the beauty overhead; and because they could see it almost any night, perhaps they never will. I read most, if not all, of the Joseph Hanson mysteries when they were first published. I even attended a bookstore appearance once when he was in San Francisco. All the hardcovers are first editions and one is signed, but it came that way.
I tend not to read mysteries, science fiction or even poetry now. My unread fiction shelf had only a few books not too long ago but is now overflowing.

Thanks for stumbling across me on LibThing. I'm delighted to see your own site. Your book looks very interesting indeed. I promise that when I get to be the master of my own reading again (post-dissertation) I will read yours.

You’re right too about amassing books, no matter what I shall continue to buy ~ I’m forever scanning Amazon and ebay, and cannot walk past a book shop without entering. What I have found though is that a lot of the books that I have bought I now have little enthusiasm for reading, and it is those that I am disposing of (space is an ongoing problem). I think I will need to be more selective in future

Me thinks we’re both too quick off the mark!
Thanks for your comment about my listing, you probably notice that a lot of the books recorded there are unread, in fact so many that they are become a burden; apart from making it almost impossible to choose what to read next I’m beginning to think I’ll never get through them all – and that becomes a worry to me. This is especially so now that I am able to paint again, I have less time for reading. So I’ve put a lot up for sale, especially the erotica, which quickly becomes tiresome. Interestingly the books I’m definitely keeping and intending to read coincide with those on your list.
Looking at your list makes more sense now that I know you have many more books to add, without knowing that it I was looking at first as though you restricted your reading to just a few writers – now it makes more sense. I’m pleased too that you rate your books; I always find that very helpful.
So enough waffle for now – I have more important things to do such as reading Orphan’s Blood!

Merry Seasonal Holiday of your choice, as well (we celebrate both Yule and Christmas in my house, but I've never seen any point in excluding joy and celebration of any stripe).
