About meI'm a college textbook editor, and a voracious but dilettantish reader on the side. I enjoy exploring New York and faraway places on foot, taking lots of photographs, and comparing notes with my wife, who is a much more experienced and observant traveler than me. Baseball's my sport, XBox is my guilty pleasure, music is my constant companion, and being able to paint by the time I retire is my dream.
About my libraryI'm guessing that once I'm done adding all of my books to this catalogue, the final number will be somewhere around 800 volumes. Not massive, by any means, but plenty to keep me busy. I've read maybe a quarter of the books listed here. I'm also a fairly conscientious winnower, so I'm guessing that I've read and then sold, loaned out, or given away another 500 books that aren't listed here. My main areas of interest in non-fiction are art, art forgery and art dealing, urban studies, biology and behavior, ancient Greece and Rome, everything having to do with New York, American political thought, philosophy, film, European history, and literary biography and criticism. I enjoy reading poetry, especially in books that are pocket-sized and portable. I'm open to reading just about any fiction, but I'm at the point in my life where I'm drawn to the classics that I missed (for whatever reason) in school, so I've been reading things like Don Quixote, In Search of Lost Time, and Moby Dick for the first time. Better late than never.
