About meRetired - so plenty of time to read.

About my libraryIn my book you only get one life, so this is the collection that suits until the joker deals. I'd like to reduce the number of books over the next few years (and now achieved - making a bookseller very happy), but still at least three years reading languishes.

The collection divides into five areas: Music, Russian lit. & crit. in translation, London history & topography, art history, and the rest.

When the reading is almost done I'll don my hat, pick up my begging bowl and disappear into the forest with three books: a favourite, one partially read, and another that is unexplored.

Hi Peter, I'm glad to hear you are impressed with 'The Iceberg', I have it in my pile to read in the next couple of weeks. I have just finished reading Tom's 50 Great Works, which I liked a lot, both discovering painters I didn't know, and seeing those I know and love in a different way. It's quite a skill to offer a piece of art criticism in such a tight word count, including biography.

Best wishes
