That is rather freakishly small worldish, isn't it? I can't wait to see the tattoo. The Bryce Courtney I found is the middle book in a trilogy. Guess I'll have to track down the others too... See you next week!
Alison, I read "Duplicate Keys" ages ago. So long, I don't remember anything about it. I love Jane Smiley's work, though. She's one of those authors who I feel a lot of affinity for, even with her lesser novels. I think mostly because she never writes the same novel twice. You know what I mean? I think that's a very hard thing for a popular literary author to do. Her book "A Thousand Acres" is excellent and won a major literary award. Have you read that one? I also really liked "Moo". She has a new one coming out (I think actually it came out last week) that I MUST have (even though I'm so swamped with have-to reads that I don't know when I'll get to it).

As to the tattoo.... sounds like a fun adventure! I got my nose pierced at "The Hole Look", which was very clean, sterile; they have some excellent ink artists. I'm not sure what they charge. $50/hr? Something like that but probably depends on the artist. I've also gotten recommendations for other places in town, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
That's fabulous idea about the sleeping arrangements. I'm in the process of pairing my four kids up, which will free the large bonus room over the garage. I keep telling the family I'm doing this for THEIR benefit,so they'll have anothe common room to hang out in, but I'm secretly planning lots of book cases.
Okay. Found the St. JOhn's book sale on adn.com. Just got back. Whew! Cleaned them out. Time to add them to LT. (Is there where you went?)
Hmmm. Your book acquisition seems to be keeping pace with my own. You do realize this could be you into serious trouble? You do realize I only had like 1,200 books when I started on LT?
Oh that is TOO cool! You've got the book-juju thing going. I love it when that kind of thing happens. (Where was the book sale?)
You do realize that soon it will be 4,000, then 5,000, and so on and so on and so on. ;) What are you reading right now?
Noticed you liked Lovely Bones, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it also contains a young female narrator struggling with a series of tragic circumstances. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:
