About meI'm Chinese. I started reading English books from 2002, shortly after I arrived in America. At first I can only read fairy tales; now I can enjoy novels and nearly all kinds of books, huge or small, contemporary or classic. Well, actually I still haven't much confidence in reading books like "Gravity's Rainbow".

I am interested in literature, children's books, scifi(just a beginner), comics, everything about nature and animals, books on books(of course!), and anything else. :)

btw, my blog is written in Chinese. http://slowsnow.tianyablog.com

About my libraryTo build up a library is to create a life.
--- Carlos Maria Dominguez "The House of Paper"

I love used bookstores and I love old books. Nearly all my books are second-hand. Those books, cover tattered, dog eared, sometimes have a mildew smell, usually older than I am, seem have their own souls and lives. And I am just one of the fortunate people who can cherish life and have a great time with those wonderful books.

Now my biggest problem is my speed of reading is far less than that of buying books. But I just can't help!

Noticed you liked As I Lay Dying, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter)in case you'd like to read more about the novel before you commit:

Polycrystal - I'm goofing off on librarything tonight and discovered you are one of very few aside from myself who owns a copy of Nancy Lord's "Beluga Days." How did you happen across it? I met Nancy recently at a writers' conference in Homer, Alaska, where she lives and teaches. I live in Anchorage. As someone who has taught English to newcomers to the US, I am delighted to hear that you are plowing through so many books in English. That is quite an impressive feat. Congratulations. I laughed at your commment about getting "Gravity's Rainbow." I'm not sure that English as a first language gives someone much more of an edge. Blessings! Linda
I love the quote you chose. It's wonderful. It seems to be my underlying obession with books and reading.
Hope your collection keeps on growing.
