Hi,
I read your list, and have the following recommendations:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Peace Like a River by Leif Enger
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie
Knowledge of Angels by Jill Paton Walsh
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
all of the Anne of Green Gables books by L. M. Montgomery

Cheers, Jan
Howdy,

I printed it off and am discussing it with my wife.

How about
-The Little Minister by JM Barrie
-Cluny Brown by Cluny Brown by Margery Sharp
-Catherine Marshall's: Christy
-L.Tolstoy, War and Peace

My wife(the librarian) suggests:
-J. Karon's Mitford series
-Ann Ross Miss Julia series
-Elizabeth Cadell books
-FH Burnett, The Shuttle
-Jennifer Chiaverini, Quilt series-
-Hilton's Lost Horizons

-correction:
James Clavell: Shogun, Gaijun, Taipai, and many of his others.

Hi and thanks for the note. It is a nice book list which I will have to spend time investigating. In the meantime I would suggest the following additions:

-Rudyard Kipling, Kim....plus most of his other work.
-John Galsworthy, Forsyte Saga (yes, the entire trilogy of 3 separate books.)
-Talbot Mundy, forgot the titles...
-John Clavell, Shogun, Gaigun, Taipai, and many others.
-David Copperfield
-et. al.
