About meFestina lente! Independent art and architectural historian and Executive Associate at the Open Society Foundations. I hold a Ph.D. in Art History from the City University of New York and write on architecture, art, and urban history from the Renaissance to the present.

I managed the cataloging of the library of Hannah Arendt as part of LibraryThing's Legacy Libraries project.

I occasionally have books for sale at my storefront.

About my libraryThe majority of my books, as the tags indicate, are in the fields of architectural and art history.

The "Your library" collection consists only of printed books. Being incorporeal things, PDFs and Kindle books are in their own collections separate from the physical books. "Adieu" contains books that have been deaccessioned but which I have read and reviewed.

My rough rating guide:
***** Profound, essential, and necessarily beautifully written
****.5 See above and below
**** Important but with unextracted latent potential
***.5 See above and below
*** Useful but limited in depth or perspective; possibly wrong-headed or limited by mediocre writing
**.5 See above and below
** Deeply flawed yet with some glimmers of insight
*.5 See above and below
* Unworthy of one's time; keep only for completeness of a collection in its subject area
.5 Discard
