I only just cottoned on to this 'librarything' cos I came across a link in your blog - and don't ask me how I stumbled upon that! My name's Duncan and I just thought I'd say a word or two about your book selection. I've read many on there, especially the Ian McEwans - I strongly recommend his recent novel 'Saturday', if you've not already read it.
Amazed to see Sir Ernest Gowers 'The Complete Plain Words' on your list; I read this book years ago, lent it to someone who never gave it back and now it's out of print here in the UK (did I not say I was English?). It's the most clear and improving book on how to write English ever written, say I.
All the best,
Duncan.
