About meHi, I'm P'shaw.

I'm a bit morbid, and I enjoy horror films and ghost stories. Ruins, cemetaries, and abandoned places are attractive to me. My mother was a geneaologist, and as I was growing up she would push me around in a stroller while she took gravestone rubbings. Before I turned three I had been in every public and private burial ground in Sevier, Knox, and Blount counties.

Currently I'm an apartment dweller, packed into my little home with books stacked everywhere, "like a gherkin in its vinegar." Cataloging and tagging my collection is a monumental task, and I have bursts of tagging.

I used to use Book Crossing, but I found the interface unwieldy, and it seemed like no one ever logged when they found a book I released, so I became inactive there.

About my libraryMy tastes are pretty varied and eclectic. I tend to buy far more books than I can read, and I always make it to the Friends of the Library book sale. I'm also a used book shop enthusiast and it's hard to drag me out once I've found a good one. Much of what I am currently cataloging is from my reading journal, which I've been keeping since 1992.

I have a small, but growing, collection of vintage and local cookbooks.

Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Paris Trout, and thought you might like my novel since it's also southern and a bit dark (in the same vein as Paris Trout). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Excellent. I'm glad you liked the books. I was thrilled to find that Rachel Pollack had something like this. You'll have to let me know how it is when you're done. Happy New Year!
Thanks for "Omnivore's Dilemma" - I couldn't resist opening it early! I'm excited to read it over the holidays. Hope the Santa Thing gift you get is as apropos as mine!
If you're interested in Eastern thought, have you run across any of Thomas Cleary's works? He's translated several dozen books from Chinese and Japanese of the Eastern classics. Dr. Cleary has written over 75 books. He wrote my book's Preface.
Hi Jessie. Thanks for connecting with me. I was in Louisiana in the fall last year helping out with Habitat for Humanities in New Orleans -- there's a lot of work left to do there.

Just curious, how did you first learn about Sun Tzu's The Art of War? Sincerely, Thomas
