About meI am one of the many in the Washington, D.C. area with a low pay, high prestige job that will supposedly get me into "nearly any graduate program that I want." If for no other reason than to afford me more time to read, I would like to get into one of those programs. Or maybe a post-baccalaureate pre-med program. Indecision is a curse.

About my libraryI love science fiction and fantasy due to powerful childhood influences and my father's amazing collection of science fiction bookclub titles. I have attempted to rebuild that library in some ways. I buy mostly used books or those that are deeply discounted. My classics collection was started on the 'buy it, and I will eventually read it' theory. I even surprised myself by reading a number of them. The children's books I had intended to collect for future offspring, one of the many plans for my future that has mutated over the last year. Growing up in a house of books was true freedom.

Lately, I have been reading LT threads to learn about new authors. It is a strategy only slightly more successful than picking random things at Barnes and Noble.

Noticed you liked Out by Natsuo Kirino, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also gritty, a bit violent, and a bit dark :) I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the novel before you commit.

I updated the thread in the Green Dragon about the 2009 summer get-together (Mid-Atlantic). You had indicated an interest in participating so drop by the pub and leave feedback!
I joined your Hokies group. I didn't go to Tech, but my son does.
Hi! Saw your note on The Green Dragon ~~~ that's a lovely/loose group of interesting people. Come again.
hey...another vpi&su grad...i went to W&M for 3.5 yrs and when they wouldn't let me switch majors (again) transfered to bburg. Loved the geography dept back in the day. That's how i ended up in CHill for grad school. Miss the landscape around BBurg - through the brother of a close friend has a home ontop of a hilltop outside of Floyd, which is quite lovely and v. close to the AT.
Cool library. Your stash of Cherryh is quite impressive. What are your favorite Cherryh novels?
