on the library thing local page, accessed by local tab at the top of the screen, near the top on the left hand side there is location with a pencil beside it. Click the pencil to change your location. There is a check box for use in profile, checked this will display the new location publicly on your profile, left blank your profile will remain as it is, the location you put in local then cannot be seen by others.

Some thoughts on your 10 improvements
1) Much asked for collections is what you need, tagging is what you've got.
2)You can select what columns are displayed (edit next to ABCDE at top of page). If you would like to control widths, I'm with you.
3) Just a list - as 2 select a style to be just author and title and change to 100 items per page.
8) Local at top of page will give libraries, bookstores, book fairs and events near you (you may need to specify your location more accurately, but can do so on the local page where it will not be public). If your local library is not there you can add it.
