Hey, thanks for liking my selection of books, which I have too many of. I'm originally from Bellingham, WA, but have lived in Texas for many years. There are no libraries around here with the books I'd like, so I keep buying, being directed to books by bibliographies and notes. I once thought I was called to be a minister, but don't think that now. I am almost finished with a master's in Theology from Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, TX.
Howdy! I stumbled on your profile by accident, and with a name like "ragamuffinag," I can't help but wonder if you're a Rich Mullins fan from Texas A&M? I've spent the last two summers interning up in Seattle, and I was involved with Mars Hill while I was there. I can't speak about their seminary, but if you're ever up there, you should definitely check the church out.
Thanks! I really like this whole Seattle area. The weather and environment are very pleasant--evergreens and maples everywhere you look, with a grand mix of mountains, parks, ocean, lakes, and all of this. Largely sunny much of the year (no place can match Seattle springs and summers), with soft cloud cover and gentle rain at other times (though Portland any plenty of other cities get more rain than we do). The cloud cover can make things pretty dark in the fall and winter, but all the leaves changing color are just gorgeous.

City life is also quite cool. We have a decent public transportation system, with plenty of improvements planned for the next five years. Coffee, coffee, coffee! Seattle is also quite into the arts, with plenty of theatres, symphonies, and such. The indie music scene is also gigantic here, if you're into that sort of thing.

As far as religion goes, Seattle is still largely unChristian. Places like Mars Hill Church and other emerging types of churches are popping up all over, in an attempt to reach this postmodern culture. Rocking worship, relevant preaching, and this sort of thing. There are also plenty of churches (like mine), that focus more on being distinct from the world, in worship, doctrine, and preaching. Ancient tradition and liturgy is a better way to reach a culture saturated with relativism and humanism, we would say.

I don't know a whole lot about Mars Hill Seminary, so I can't really help you much with that. I would recommend SPU, however. Great school! :o)
